Hidden Pipes and Valves below Slab or Grade

Have you ever wanted pipes and other mechanical building elements to show as hidden when they are below grade or a floor slab?  This can be done by toggling a drawing variable in the 'Options --> MEP Display Control' tab.

By default in AutoCAD MEP, when you draw something as below (image)...

...you get the following in plan view:

If you want the pipes and parts to show as hidden below the floor slap - or grade - you can proceed to 'Options --> MEP Display Control' and toggle on "Enable Display by Elevation".

After doing so, proceed to the pipe and MVpart "Display Properties" and note the new Components available to set.

Set the "Below" components to a hidden linetype OR hidden layer and you can control the display of these objects through the Cut Plane.

In this example I set the different Cut Plane settings as follows:

Now when you view the drawing in Plan all the mechanical objects below the "Display Below Range" will show as hidden lines!

Thanks, and I hope this helps...

BONUS TIP:

If you select the pipe or part and proceed to the "Display" tab in the Properties palette you can override the elevation setting for specific elements; sweetness!
